About Filomena Tassi
Born in Hamilton, daughter of a proud steelworker, the Hon. Filomena Tassi was a corporate lawyer for six years and then a high school chaplain in Hamilton for 20 years before her election as a Member of Parliament in 2015. Since then, she has served as Deputy Government Whip, Minister of Seniors. Filomena is currently Canada’s federal Minister of Labour.
Filomena has been a tireless advocate for Hamilton, bringing over $400 million of funding to our city. She has promoted Hamilton's homegrown talent by finding opportunities for our innovative companies, post-secondary institutions, cultural organizations, youth and seniors. She has been an advocate for Hamilton’s labour movement, highlighting its historic successes in her maiden speech in the House of Commons, and working hard to protect seniors’ pensions.
